Somerset Coastal Path

This is the post excerpt.

Why is it that you live in a county for fourteen years and never make exploring it a priority? There are over 600 who have walked the whole coastline in the footsteps of John Merrell. So inspired by those who tramped before me, I decide to use some unexpected time off work to think whilst getting some fresh air and exercise. So this blog is about my walks one day a week a week since May 2017 which began at Bristol Temple Meads station and will in about thirteen stages get me to Porlock and maybe to Lynton in North Devon.

I knew that some work had been done on an official route from the local paper, the Somerset County Gazette. So I went looking for books and maps to begin planning using public transport wherever possible as I would be walking alone. Damian Hall’s book from Aurum Press was duly purchased, as it handily includes extracts from the OS maps plus lots of useful information about the route and places of interest.
